As part of the Illinois Tollway's Move Illinois program, the Tollway is in the planning stages of major work on I-294 through Hinsdale. The Tollway's Central Tri-State Corridor Planning Council is expected to present its recommendations for the reconstruction of I-294 to the Tollway Board of Directors during the first quarter of 2017, and work is tentatively projected to begin in 2020.
