Village to Hold Public Meeting Regarding 55th and County Line

On Tuesday, February 2 at 7:00 pm, the Village will be holding a public meeting to seek community feedback regarding a proposed redevelopment of the parcel located at the southeast corner of 55th Street and County Line Road, commonly referred to as “Sedgwick.”

A developer is proposing an empty-nester development, which would include approximately 50 single-family, detached homes with first-floor master bedrooms on lots that would average 13,000 square feet. The parcel is currently zoned R-2, which contemplated 36 large, single-family homes on 20,000 square foot lots. Under Hinsdale’s Zoning Code, one of the key considerations for the Board in considering such a zoning change is a “community need” for the product being proposed. Therefore, the Board is seeking input from residents concerning the perceived need for an empty-nester development in Hinsdale.

This meeting is scheduled to take place at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 2, immediately prior to the regularly-scheduled Village Board meeting that begins at 7:30 pm. The meeting will be held in Hinsdale’s Memorial Hall, located at 19 E. Chicago Avenue. Interested residents are encouraged to attend. If you are unable to attend but would like to make your voice heard, please contact the Village in advance of the public meeting at 630-320-5697 or development@villageofhinsdale.org. Any feedback received will be shared with the Village Board of Trustees for its consideration.
