How Can We Help You?

Engineering Projects

During construction, residents are encouraged to take alternate streets as much as possible.  Construction zones may be marked for "Local Traffic Only".  This applies to the residents living in the construction zone so that they may get to and from their homes.  All other traffic should use the designated detour routes.  Vehicles traveling through construction zones do so at their own risk and should expect to experience temporary delays, detours, and degraded pavement conditions.  For the safety and convenience of everyone in the construction zones, please drive slowly and carefully through these areas.

Public utility companies may be conducting construction in Hinsdale to relocate, maintain, or repair their public utilities.  Each public utility company will notify residents of their work and their work's impact on the area.

Hinsdale staff will continue to notify residents of the impacts of the Village's construction activities on the streets under construction through e-mailings or notices placed on front doors. If you have not provided an email to the Village to receive notifications, please contact

In 2009, the Village Board created a long-term plan that contemplates $86.8 million in infrastructure improvements between 2010 and 2023.
See detailed information about the Master Infrastructure Plan here.

In 2023, the Village plans to complete its annual resurfacing program and the Drainage Improvements (ARPA Grant) Project. The annual resurfacing locations can be found here (link to 2023 projects). The Village was awarded two drainage grants from DuPage County Stormwater Management, and the grants were allocated to locations on Charleston Road and Grant Street. The Drainage Improvements (ARPA Grant) Project is intended to reduce flooding at the low points of Charleston Road and Grant Street/Fifth Street. Storm sewer and drainage structures will be constructed at both locations, and the improvements are anticipated to be completed in Summer 2023.

Please note: All schedules are weather and funding dependent and are subject to change.
