Hinsdale Area Construction Updates:

As part of the Illinois Tollway’s reconstruction and widening of the Central Tri-State Tollway (I-294) construction activity may have an impact on residential areas adjacent to the Tollway. Work will be performed throughout the day, with overnight and weekend work scheduled as needed. Check here for updates.

(5/20/2024)  Removal of existing noisewalls between Graue Mill and the Hinsdale Oasis is ongoing and will continue through May. Temporary fencing was installed to limit sight and nuisances.   Noisewalls will be replaced following completion of roadway reconstruction scheduled for 2025.  Roadway construction activity in May will include concrete breaking rolling operations during daytime hours. Residents may notice some increased noise.  Relocation of the 55th Street watermain is scheduled to begin the week of May 27. Once complete, this watermain will benefit the residential neighborhood as well as the Hinsdale Oasis. To accommodate this work, a portion of the 900 block of Harding Road is scheduled to close to traffic for approximately four weeks, weather permitting. Harding Road will be closed east of Taft Road and south of Woodland Avenue.  Access to homes and driveways on Harding Road will be maintained throughout the project, however through traffic will be prohibited. Residents will need to use Woodland Avenue or E 7th Steet to access Taft Road.  In addition, road closure notice signage will be posted on Taft Road, Woodland Avenue and Harding Road. When construction begins, work will occur between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. as allowed by the Village of Hinsdale. In the event of a temporary water shut-off, the Village of Hinsdale will provide you with 48 hours advance notice.  Earth excavation for the Harding Road underground detention is scheduled to begin the week of May 20. Heavy equipment anticipated on site and residents may notice some increased noise.  Installation of the permanent access control fence around the Peirce Park box culvert is scheduled to begin the week of May 20. Local access from Mills Street will be required and is being coordinated with the Village of Hinsdale and Hinsdale Little League.  The Tollway has coordinated with the Village of Hinsdale throughout the design, planning and construction of this project to reduce the inconvenience this construction project has on local residents and businesses near the Tollway.  Contact the construction communications team via email at 294tristate@getipass.com or our 24/7 construction hotline at 630-246-2930.
