Public Assistance Grant Program

On March 26, the Trump Administration approved the State of Illinois’ major disaster declaration request. This declaration provides Public Assistance (PA) funding for local governments and certain private non-profit organizations through the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (Stafford Act).

The purpose of the Public Assistance Grant Program is to support communities’ recovery from major disasters by providing them with grant assistance for life-saving emergency protective measures, and restoring public infrastructure. Applicants with over $3,300 of costs directly related to coronavirus (COVID-19) response will be reimbursed for 75 percent of the costs associated with the response and emergency protective measures.

The State of Illinois is coordinating applications and assisting applicants through the process. For more information or to apply for Public Assistance, please email PA.Grants@Illinois.gov.
