Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) will be conducting their 2020 Tie Gang project. Two years ago, BNSF modernized the schedule for Chicago Division Tie Gangs. Previously, these tie replacements would have been scheduled over 3 to 6 weeks. Now, the work should be completed in 4 nights. In this year’s project, BNSF will change out 11,000 ties on main track 3 utilizing roughly 40 pieces of specialized rail equipment and more than 175 workers.

Night work will be taking place between 9/17 and 9/20. During this time all trains passing the work zones will be required to sound their whistles.
