State-wide Mask Mandate Requiring Masks Indoors for All Individuals, Effective August 30
Governor Pritzker announced on August 26, that a state-wide mandate requiring masks in all indoor spaces will go into effect Monday, Aug. 30, to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The mandate applies to anyone over the age of 2 years who can medically tolerate a face covering, regardless of vaccination status. This mandate comes in response to the rapidly spreading Delta variant, which is increasing hospitalizations among younger people and the unvaccinated throughout the state.
News of the mask mandate was accompanied by the announcement of a vaccination requirement for all healthcare workers, pre-k-12 teachers and staff, and higher education personnel and students. More information about these new directives can be found on the State’s website and official press release.
The Village of Hinsdale reinstated the use of masks for all individuals inside Village buildings effective August 30, in response to this new mandate.
Members of the public are also reminded that they can still access Village services remotely. A guide on accessing these remote services from various departments is available on the website.
