2021 BNSF Tie-Blitz
Overnight Closures of Railroad Crossings September 18 and 19
Replacement of railroad ties is required to maintain a safe and efficient railroad system. In Chicagoland tie replacements were previously done over multiple weeks with work windows during the day while also running trains through the work area. Several years ago it switched to dedicated overnight work windows while running very limited trains through the area, completing all work in 3 days. This year we are replacing 6800 ties between Friday September 17th and Monday September 20th. This overnight work will include numerous pieces of track equipment, increased noise from construction, train whistles from passing trains, and portable light posts in the area of work.
There are two crossings and one pedestrian crossing in Hinsdale that will require overnight closures to protect our employees and track equipment while doing the work.
