806 Wilson Lane - Private Residence

wilson
On December 3, 2002, the Board of Trustees designated 806 Wilson Lane as an historic landmark. This house is in the Woodlands, a picturesque section of Hinsdale that lies in the eastern, Cook County portion of the Village. This Tudor Revival house was built in 1926 and has fine decorative half-timbering, stucco and brickwork. Its steep gables, unusual window configurations and round-topped front door are also typical of the Tudor Revival style.

The house was renovated and added on to in the 1970s and has recently had a second addition built to the south. This new addition carefully repeats the detailing of the original 1926 house.

The Tudor Revival was Hinsdale's most popular style in the 1920s and 1930s and this house is a good example. It also shows us how a house can be renovated and added on to, providing modern spaces and amenities, while still retaining the character and historic features of the original structure.
